Electronics Section

Search for symbols with your cell phone at:
Wired.dumall.com

Welcome to the new electronics section. This section has come a long way from the simple electronics symbols page. You can still come here and look up symbols, but now you can learn on testing components, find simple projects that may be useful and fun to build. There is now a safety guidelines page which I recommend you read whether you are an  expert or a novice; and a supplies page where you can find addresses for
locating components and other supplies.
I must note that the electronics section hasn't even become what we have planned for it, so expect to find changes from time to time. If you would like to be notified on any changes to this section, simply join our mailing list located at the Info menu above and you will be notified of any new additions to DuMall.

Components Section (Search for symbols above)

Find symbols for the most common components, such as capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits and so forth. Next to each symbol there is a brief description on what the symbols is used for or how it is used. But this section is not limited to the components mentioned above. You can also find here symbols for RCA jacks, antennas, and more. Please feel free to save the symbol images for you own personal use.

Testing Components

In the testing section you will learn some ways to test low power capacitors, high power capacitors, diode's, resistors, and transistors. The testing equipment used in this section is a Digital Multi-Meter or DMM. When reading through the instructions it is advised that you read the instructions completely. The reason for this is that there are warnings and recommendations throughout the instructions, so if you skip anything you might miss something important.

Projects Section

This section is mostly intended for the novice, but there are some projects which require some knowledge. But all are encouraged to try them, they are mostly DC powered projects and some are fun to build. Such as a dual led blinker, this is a very easy project. It only requires ten electronic components, a small circuit board and some wire. If you are looking for a simple project to start you out on building electronic circuits then this in one I would recommend.

***Novices, Please read the safety section***

Safety

If you are a novice to electronics, then I strongly recommend you read this section. Working with electronics can be a lot of fun, but it can also be very dangerous depending on what you are doing.

Supplies

This section contains some address where you can find supplies and components. But, I recommend that you first try you local electronic stores, such as Radios Shack. Shipping can sometimes cost you a lot more than what you are buying.
