            Find Supplies and Components

If you are ever in the need for supplies, I first suggest that you check you local suppliers. Specially if you just need a couple of resistors or capacitors. It is ridiculous to pay two or three dollars for shipping when you are just buying a dollar or two of components. If you are buying things like a soldering iron or something big or expensive then it may be worth the shipping, but otherwise check locally. One place where you might be able to buy a lot of things is RadioShack. I know they don't have as many electronic components as they use to in some places of the country, but you can do the following. Go to their website, search for your product. After each product there is a small box that tells you if it is available online, over the phone, or at the store. So if it is available at the store, why waist money on shipping.

Places where you might find what you are looking for:
  • Electronix Express (A division of RSR  Electronics, Inc.)
    365 Blair Road
    Avenel, NJ 07001

Electronix Express has right about anything you may need, from resistors to Frequency counters to books and projects. Thought the last time I purchased from them they had a minimum order policy of twenty dollars. So use them if you plan to buy a lot or something expensive, but never the less take a look, they carry a lot of items.

  • JDR Microdevices
    1850 South 10th St.
    San Jose, CA 95112

JDR Microdevices carries a lot of Integrated Circuits as well as resistors and your common components. The also carry projects, books and other useful items. They also do have a have a kind of minimum order policy. If your order is under fifty dollars they will charge you a five dollar handling fee, but you can avoid this fee if you order online.

  • RadioShack

Since RadioShack has locations all over the United States, it would be impossible for me to list them all. But you can  look for your nearest RadioShack in your phone book, if you don't already know where it is. :-) But I do recommend searching their website to see if they have at the store what you are looking for, it will usually save you a trip or justify it. Online though you can get a lot of components, right about anything you will need.

  • Arcade Electronics, Inc.
    5655-F General Washington Dr.,
    Alexandria, VA 22312

These guys have some components, such as resistors, capacitors, potentiometers and so forth. But they are not limited to these, they also have cables, software, batteries. So they are worth a look, I haven't used them, but they look reliable enough, they also don't seem to have a minimum order policy and you can apply for credit with them, but I don't know the details.
Since I can find most of electronic components near me I don't need to go looking around. But if you would like to contribute a supplier to be posted on this website please feel free to email it to me at electronics@dumall.com and I will be happy to post it and share it with our fellow visitors. I will even mention your name and put a link back to your site. The supplier does not have to be in the United States, it can be anywhere around the world. This page gets visited by people all around, from South America to England, so feel free to share.
